During the war, when lovers, scattered by geography and circumstance, wrote many letters, certain coded abbreviations were developed to avoid detection by censors who monitored soldiers’ correspondence for possible disclosure of military secrets (probably also because their juicy messages could ashamed to say point-blank).

Without further ado, here are the acronyms – from charmingly bland and cheesy to outright obscene – that you need to add to your sexting arsenal, courtesy of the 1930s and 1940s (also known as your grandparents). Ugh. Let’s try not to think about it.

FRANCE : Friendship remains and can never end ( Who knew France was so sincere? )

ITALY : I trust and love you ( especially when you remember to buy milk at Costco ).

OOLAKOEW : Oceans of love and kisses on every wave

HOLLAND : I hope our love lasts and never dies

SWALK : Sealed with a loving kiss. ( And see you at the Sadie Hawkins sock .)

SMALL : My fervent lips are waiting for your arrival ( Well, now we have achieved something, albeit politely.)

BURMA : Be upstairs and be ready for my arrival. Alternate version: Get undressed and get ready, my angel. ( Hey now .)

VENICE: Very excited, now I caress everywhere ( Ok, Siri. If you say so. )

NORICH : (k) Nickers Off is ready when I get home ( ahem .)

CHINA : go home, I’m already naked ( it’s getting spicy! )

EGYPT : Always giving you pleasant thoughts (if you ask the BBC ). Eager to grab your pretty boobs ( if you’re nasty ).

ENGLAND : Every naked girl loves a naked cock ( Ok, then I’ll go .)
