How to Install the MacOS 13 Ventura Developer Beta

Naturally, people will want to try out macOS 13 as soon as possible. While the macOS 13 public beta will open to everyone in the coming weeks , Apple has an even earlier build available for those with a developer account. An Apple developer account costs $99 per year and requires you to have an Apple device that supports future beta versions of the OS you want to use, as well as certain account security options enabled.
Because of these requirements, this is probably not the best option for most users. A public beta should arrive sometime this summer and a full release later this fall, both of which are better suited to the average Mac fan. We also discourage users from installing the macOS 13 developer beta on their primary Macs, even if they have a developer account, as errors and other issues may occur.
However, the developer beta is the only way to try macOS 13 Ventura right now, so if you agree with the developer account requirements (or already have one) and other downsides, we’ll show you how to install it. up.
How to Install the macOS 13 Ventura Developer Beta
You may run into bugs, unfinished and missing features, and some app instability in the macOS 13 beta, so it’s wise to back up your Mac’s files and data before installing in case something goes wrong. Once you’ve successfully backed up, follow the steps below to access and install the beta.
- Go to the Apple developer page .
- Navigate to Detect > macOS 13.
- Click “Download” in the upper right corner.
- Sign in to your Apple developer account or create a new one.
- After logging in, go to the download page and download the macOS Developer Beta Access Utility on your Mac.
- Browse to your downloads folder and double-click the macOSDeveloperBetaAccessUtility.pkg file to launch the installer. Follow the instructions on the screen.
- Click to download the macOS 13 beta from the App Store when prompted, or go to Apple menu > System Preferences > Software Update and start the update from there. If an update is not available, try restarting your Mac and check again. The update may take a few minutes to appear.
- Wait for the update to download. Please note that this may take some time. When it’s done, your Mac will prompt you to install the update.
- Follow the instructions on the screen. Your device will reboot with a black screen and the progress bar will slowly fill up as the update is applied.
Once the installation is complete, the macOS 13 Ventura beta will be installed on your Mac. While not all new features will be available right away, you can still get an idea of what the new OS will look like.
