Here’s How to Fix a Dirty Summer Ice Cream Cone
You may have noticed that I think and write a lot about ice cream. Hot weather calls for cold treats, and while I (a Pacific Northwester) still lack constant access to the sun, I know it’s hot somewhere, and that’s enough.
I’m not the only one. Babs, known as Babs Brunch , thinks about ice cream too, and she had at least two brilliant ice cream thoughts, both of which can help you hand out and enjoy ice cream cones.
The first is more like making an ice cream cone: Babs lines a muffin tin with (cheap) cupcake tins, scoops the ice cream into the tins, then puts it all in the freezer, where the little scoops are stored until serving time. To serve, Babs sticks an inverted cone into each scoop of ice cream and then removes the cupcake pan from the top.
The second little hack softens the mess. Babs stuffs a mini marshmallow into a cone (before flipping it over), which acts like the chocolate at the bottom of a drumstick and blocks leaks, making things much neater.
A third hack that Babs doesn’t mention, but which I was able to pick up with my very keen eyesight, is to put sprinkles on the cupcake liners before adding the ice cream. These scoops come out pre-sprinkled, and the sprinkling is frozen into the ice cream, meaning they’ll stay on their way to your mouth. (Try it with peanuts for a drumstick vibe.)
Ice cream aside, it’s worth noting that Babs is generally well followed and has other great hacks, recipes , and tips that have nothing to do with ice cream, including a weed killer hack that I’m excited to try this week. . (I may not have much sun here in Oregon, but I have a lot of rain and the weeds are thriving.)
