What to Do Instead of Laminating a Vaccine Card

If you have the Before Times collection of conference icons, it’s time to dig them up. Like in a video game where a level 1 item suddenly comes in handy in the final dungeon, it turns out that the card you are usually given with the COVID vaccine is the perfect size for a standard badge holder.

We previously suggested laminating your vaccine card (Staples and Office Depot will do this free of charge ), but that won’t help between your first and second doses. Some people also don’t want to laminate their card in case they have to add a booster dose later. But if you are using a badge holder, you can slide it in and out as needed.

Why a badge? Vaccine cards are 4 “wide by 3” high and are one of the standard conference badge sizes. If you don’t have one, you can get a pack of clear holders in this size, with or without a lanyard, from office supply stores or online. In fact, if you search for “vaccine card protector” on an online store like Amazon, you will find tons of repurposed badge holders.

Measure your card before buying to be sure: 4 “x3” is a typical size, but nothing prevents the clinic from printing cards of any size convenient for them. Conference badge holders also vary in size, so this is not a universal option. Just by coincidence, common.
