The Easiest Do-It-Yourself Furniture Projects From Leftover Wood

Whether you have leftover boards from a previous home improvement project or are just looking for a simple carpentry project, there are a few things you can do that will add economical storage and functionality to your home. Try these do-it-yourself projects that only require three or four tools and materials each and are perfect for beginners.

Hexagonal shelves

With just a board, a saw and a little wood glue, you can make a fun and functional hexagonal shelf. You will need a saw that can cut at 30 degrees and some blue masking tape for the seams. We have complete and detailed instructions for you here .

Clothes rack

You can build a simple hanger using just 2×2 pine, a miter saw, and wood screws. Trim the curved legs first, then trim the branches for the top. Screw in the legs making sure they are level and then screw in the branches for the top and you have a simple inexpensive coat tree.
