Reduce Stress Levels Throughout the Day With a Slow Morning
Setting up your morning rituals will help you start the day right. The first ritual you choose should be slow. Consciously taking the time to relax in the morning can help reduce your daily stress.
We’ve talked about why making your bed in the morning is a good start to the day, but it goes beyond the ritual. The Positivity blog explains why we shouldn’t rush to check emails or prepare breakfast right away:
When you wake up and start doing your first thing of the day, slow down a little.
Do this and the next few things in a relaxed and calm pace. It probably won’t take as long as if you did it quickly. And it will be easier for you to stay in the present, concentrate on every activity you do, and find simple joy or peace in it.
Do this instead of immediately increasing stress and sinking into anxiety or dwelling on what might happen today before you even have breakfast.
If you don’t feel like making your bed, try coffee or morning thanks . You may need to get up a little earlier to slow down the morning, but you will start with less stress. If you have children, you may need to work hard the night before to make the morning less hectic.
