Join a Walking Group for Physical and Social Exercise

You are probably spending too much time sitting . Join a walking group for more exercise in your daily routine. Walking groups also provide you with the opportunity to meet new people who are also interested in walking (and may have other things in common with you).

There are many places where you can find walking groups, such as local Walking Meetup Groups . You can also join group walking programs such as the Running Room program .

A meta-study from the British Journal of Sports Medicine, summarizing 42 separate studies involving 1,843 people, found that overall, people who walked at a slow pace received a wide range of mental and physical benefits. What’s more, people who joined the walking groups adhered to their walking routine more than people who did not.

If yes, indicate that the meta-study was a summation of X individual studies over any number of years or people and it showed that overall, people who did even a little walk benefited, and people who joined walking groups who followed their walking routine more than people who have not.

You don’t have to be with others to enjoy the walk – a quiet walk itself can be a new break in the middle of a long day. If you want to become more socially active, you can try learning a new language, throwing a party with travelers, or adult sports leagues ( among many other activities ).
