How to Disable Chrome’s New User Menu

An update is now being rolled out for Chrome that adds a new menu in the upper right corner of the app that allows you to manage users. It’s ugly and a little annoying if you don’t switch profiles frequently. Here’s how to turn it off.

All you have to do to disable it is go to the flags menu.

  1. Enter chrome: // flags in the address bar.
  2. Find on the page “Enable New Profile Management System”
  3. Change the dropdown menu to Disabled
  4. Restart Chrome

That’s all. You will lose the user management menu and go back to the simpler version of Chrome. If you’d rather revert to the old look, do this:

  1. Enter chrome: // flags in the address bar.
  2. Find “Enable new avatar menu”.
  3. Change the dropdown to Disabled
  4. Restart Chrome

This will bring back the old avatar menu.
