VLC Gets Extensions, Resumes Playback, and Returns to IOS
Windows / Mac / Linux / Android / iOS: VLC is undoubtedly one of the best media players out there, and it gets a little better today by adding an in-app extension store, resuming playback, and more. More importantly, the iOS version of the app is returning to the App Store.
Previously, on desktop versions of VLC, you had to track and install extensions from an external market. These extensions are now built right into the app, so you can quickly find what you need. Apart from that, VLC also finally got a handy resume button when you don’t finish watching a video, support for an ARM processor, and a few other minor features. You can find the entire list of updates on the VideoLAN page .
As for the version for iOS , the new version does not contain the set of improvements by comparison with the previous version, in addition to simply exist, but at least it is available again. It can play tons of non-iOS media files, adds folder support, password lock, and is optimized for iPhone 6 and 6 Plus. EDIT: Looks like the iOS version of the app has disappeared again for some people. We will be monitoring this throughout the day. The iOS app should be in the App Store again.
