Apple Includes Two-Factor Authentication for IMessage and FaceTime
Two-factor authentication is one of the most important security features you can enable . It was in Apple IDs for a while, but it didn’t work with all Apple services and apps. Apple today enabled this feature for iMessage and FaceTime.
Until today, if you tried to sign in to iMessage or FaceTime on your Mac or iPhone, you were not prompted for a code, even if two-factor authentication was enabled on your account. Starting today, you will see a little more security in every application. iMessage and FaceTime won’t ask you for a code, but you’ll have to use an app-specific password to sign in, which you can get from your Apple ID account settings . It’s not perfect two-factor authentication, but it’s more secure than a regular password, which is nice.
If you’ve signed in to your Apple ID through Mac or iPhone preferences, you won’t notice the difference – it only affects signing in from the app itself. For more information follow the link.
