Affinity Photo Is a Feature-Rich Photoshop Alternative Currently Free
OS X: The creators of one of our favorite Adobe Illustrator alternatives , Affinity Designer, are back with a high-quality Photoshop replacement, Affinity Photo. And currently you can get the beta version for free.
The video above demonstrates some of the professional features of the program: CMYK pass-through, RAW support, ICC color management, and 16-bit working channel editing. You can even import and export Photoshop PSD files and use 64-bit Photoshop plugins.
All of these features take a little time to learn, but Photoshop users will find many (if not all) of their favorite tools in the program, including the Healing Brush Tools, Mesh Warp, and more.
The beta is free to try, but when the full version launches, it will cost $ 49.99 – no subscription fees like Photoshop and free updates for the next two years. While Affinity Photo will be slightly larger than the $ 30 Pixelmator, currently our favorite Photoshop alternative , Affinity Photo is the closest thing to a complete Photoshop replacement so far. It will also work well with Affinity Designer, and the developers are planning to create a Windows version, but that after they have created Affinity Publisher (an alternative to InDesign) and iOS versions of all those apps.
Until then, you can try the Mac version yourself. (After completing the beta registration form, you should quickly receive an email with a download link.)
