The Truth About Spray Pheromones (and Why They Don’t Actually Work)

If you’re trying to figure out a way to make a date for Valentine’s Day, you can cross the spray pheromones off your list. This video from the American Chemical Society explains why you might want to try meeting someone the old fashioned way.

Many products claim to give you an edge when meeting potential partners, but the YouTube Reactions channel is here to burst your bubble. While it is true that pheromones are a natural means of attracting others, no two people are exactly the same when it comes to how they react. Basically, there isn’t a perfect pheromone that works for everyone, but that’s not the biggest problem with pheromone products you can buy. Sprayable varieties are not even chemically made for humans!

Most of the products you can purchase include the following compounds: androstenone, androstadienone, and androstenol. They are actually effective compounds, but only if you are trying to attract a pig . These compounds were isolated from pigs and have been shown to work in pigs, but there is no evidence that they work in humans at all. So do yourself a favor and spend your money on something else. Also, sometimes it’s best not to spray anything on yourself so that your natural pheromones aren’t overloaded.
