Create a ‘fabulous Phone’ With a Raspberry Pi and a Rotary Phone
Everyone used to have wired rotary telephones. Now that you’ve upgraded to a cordless or mobile phone, you can turn your old rotary dial phone into an interactive children’s toy.
Instructables explains how to add a Raspberry Pi to a rotary phone dialer. Different mp3 files can be played from each number on the phone. Children can listen to different callers in each of the 10 locations. The tooltip suggests fairy-tale characters, but you can jot down whatever you want. If you’re out of town for a while, leave a different message for the child at each location so they can hear Mom or Dad whenever they want. Check out the full instructions here.
