Prepare for the Best and Worst to Calm Anxiety and Keep You Balanced

It may seem like being optimistic at all times is the best way to get things done, but anxiety and negative thinking are powerful . With this little exercise, you can prepare for the best and worst scenarios.

Worry can be extremely debilitating, but there is a way to adapt it to strategic thinking. In her new book, former psychologist Alice Boyes explains how she deals with anxiety, but uses a simple exercise to prepare for any decision or situation:

“I force myself to think about the worst that could have happened and the best that could have happened. Instead of just automatically assuming that something will have a negative result, I trained my brain to see the possibility that it could have a positive result. ”

Boyce lets go of her anxiety and addresses every negative thought, preparing for the possibility of its realization. She also forces herself to think about the best possible outcomes, which has led her to things that she never thought she could do. Likewise, if you tend to think positively most of the time, plan for the worst. The next time you have something on your mind, like a big decision or a stressful work environment, look both ways and see what you come up with.
