Programming Skills, Jobs, and the Types of Companies That Pay the Most
With high job demand and high salaries, programming is one of the most attractive professions to study these days. However, in this area, there is a big difference between payments.
Compass took data from several sources over the past year – a survey of startup executives and software developers, freelance portals Elance-oDesk and Toptal, as well as public data from Glassdoor, Angellist and Payscale – to compare how engineers and software developers get paid (US companies only).
The data is slightly different from the results of a study published by Quartz of the Brookings Institution , but it contains more data points. In addition to comparing the cost of learning one language over another, the infographic also compares jobs (for example, internal developers tend to earn more than external developers) and company types (for example, startups pay 13 percent more than traditional IT companies).
