Xtra-PC Helps Non-Technical People Install Linux on an Old PC

If you still have an old computer, you’re in luck. The new Lubuntu-based Linux distro will give new life to any old PC, designed for non-technical users and optimized for popular websites.

We’ve covered some ways to install Linux on an old Windows XP computer and before, but Xtra-PC makes the process easy for non-technical people – and it comes with a lot of popular things installed right out of the box. You can run the product from DVD, flash drive, or install it directly onto your hard drive (by removing the old operating system). I’ve tried it on several different XP era computers and didn’t need any drivers. Even wireless and Ethernet worked great.

Xtra-PC includes links to Facebook, Minecraft, Amazon Prime Video, and Netflix and optimizes Chromium with the right plugins. Other web products like Google Docs work just like any other OS. You can of course do it yourself, but for $ 15, Xtra-PC will do it for you and provide support – perfect for non-techies who need an extra computer that is less likely to get viruses.
