Breaking Delivers News to Your Mac or IPhone Notification Center
OS X / iOS: It’s easy to follow the news, but it can be more difficult to follow the news that excites you. Hacking is a new application that makes things easier. Just add the sites that give you the news you want to read and their stores will appear in your notification center or drop-down list on your Mac or iOS device.
The video above shows how the app works, but the gist is simple. Just tell Breaking which sites you want to fetch headers from – the names and URLs are okay, you don’t have to look up the channel URL – and Breaking will add them and show you the headers in your Today view – the calendar side of the new Notification Center. You will see them along with other appointments for the day, but you will not receive alerts or anything else. These will appear as the titles appear, and it will only show the five most recent stories from each of your channels, so the view won’t be too cluttered. However, you can add any number of sites to the list.
Honestly, the idea isn’t all that new – apps like Monotony , which we’ve already tested, do it too (also free), and the previously mentioned NewsBee and FreshFeed add feeds to the menu bar. However, the hack is developed for iOS and Yosemite, works specifically with the notification center and finds your channels automatically.
Breaking is created by the same team as the previously mentioned apps like Haze and Be My Eyes , another app we love and both apps aim to improve people’s lives in general. If you’re lucky, this one too. Click on the link below to launch it.
