San Miguel Desktop
Reader Kiss Kiss Bang! Clap! wanted to put together a desktop that shows his hometown in all its glory, and we think he did just that – it’s awesome. Here’s how he set it up, and how you can put a piece of San Miguel on your desktop.
Kiss kiss bang! Clap! pointed out that San Miguel is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so if seeing it this way is not enough, you should also consider seeing it in person. If all you have time for now is rest on your desktop, here’s what you need to set it up:
- This photo of San Miguel de Allende as wallpaper (thanks for making it available to us!)
- System Monitor and GeekTool tweak utility for OS X, primarily for the geeklet watch in the lower right corner
- Bowtie utility for OS X to add the current screen in the lower left corner (with the Passed theme applied)
- Bartender utility for OS X to change the order of icons in the menu bar
- CDock utility to hide Dock background
- Utility LiteIcon to change the application icons and package icons .app.icns from Andrew and Cara for replacements
This particular setup is obviously on OS X, but you could go a long way towards this on Windows or Linux with some of the tweaks we showed you earlier in previous select desktops, such as using Rainmeter for on-screen displays or Conky and Docky on Linux.
