Freeze Kale Cubes to Make Super Quick Green Smoothies

Homemade green smoothies are a quick, easy, and inexpensive way to add fiber, folate, vitamins, and antioxidants to your diet. One trick to make them not only easier, but also more convenient: Freeze a few cabbage cubes ahead of time.

College-focused culinary site Spoon University explains how (and why) to make kale cubes: puree kale (or any other leafy greens you want, like spinach) with a little water in a blender, then pour into ice cube trays and to freeze. Transfer them to a zippered plastic bag and slide the block into the blender any time you want to add a dose of greens to your mixed drink.

Not only does this save you the hassle of washing or chopping the cabbage every time you want a green shake, but it also means you don’t have to keep fresh leafy greens on hand every time you want a green shake. Bonus: The frozen block keeps the smoothie cold, so you don’t need to add as much ice (if any).
