Twitter Now Allows You to Receive Private Messages From Anyone
Twitter has included a new feature with which you can receive direct messages from anyone, whether you follow them back or not.
By default, Direct Messaging is turned off, but you can go to Settings> Security & Privacy to turn it on. Once you do this, anyone can send you private messages, whether you follow them in response or not. Likewise, you can send messages to other users who are not following you if they have enabled this feature. Find out if people can receive public direct messages by looking at the new plus sign on their profile pages. The new feature was first introduced back in 2013 but was removed about a month after that. During the day, it is distributed to all users.
