Find Out That Users Can Now “freeze” Inappropriate Credit Cards
When you lose your credit card, the first thing you usually do is void it if it falls into the wrong hands. But waiting for a new card and updating your data is troublesome. Discover cardholders can now work around this issue by temporarily blocking their cards instead of canceling them entirely.
From this week, Discover users have access to the new Freeze feature. Basically, it gives you the ability to “turn on” or “turn off” your card. This way, you don’t have to cancel your card and get a new one if you know there is a good chance you will find it. At the same time, it helps to avoid fraudulent purchases. You save your account number, but you cannot use it until you unfreeze the card.
The freeze applies to purchases, cash advances, and balance transfers. And to make things easier, some purchases will be made even if your card is blocked. Recurring invoice payments, refunds and rewards are still processed when the card is frozen.
You can activate this feature through their website or mobile app. Bankrate says it is not yet available to business clients, but that will change soon.
