Refill the Needles Faster by Spraying Hairspray
Threading a needle is easy enough, but it can be frustrating when the thread bends and wears out, refusing to pass through the eye of the needle. Next time this happens to you, try sprinkling it with hairspray.
This simple tip was developed by Real Simple, where they say a quick spray onto the end of the filament will prevent abrasion. It also makes the thread stiffer, allowing you to quickly push it through the needle with minimal effort.
It also helps to move the needle towards the thread and not vice versa. I licked the end of my thread to keep it from fraying, but that doesn’t always work as the thread still bends and resists.
This is not the worst inconvenience in the world, but it can be a little annoying. And this is a simple enough piece of advice to prevent that from happening. Real Simple has some more great tips for common household items, so be sure to check out the link.
