IOS 8.3 Prevents Desktop File Explorer From Accessing Apps

Apple’s recently released iOS 8.3 update prevents desktop file explorers like iFunBox, iExplorer, iTools and others from accessing app catalogs on your devices. Some of them have been updated with interim fixes, but it may take a while for everything to work again.

Basically, iOS 8.3 prevents these utilities from accessing apps unless they have iTunes file sharing enabled. This means that you cannot manually transfer files or back up save file information . iFunBox explains the issue on their Facebook page :

OS 8.3 violated our freedom to control data in the apps and games we installed. Apple has blocked access to the entire sandbox directory of every installed app since iOS 8.3. Previously, only write was blocked in the executable directory. We have now completely lost control of the apps on our own devices. We are investigating the situation. Before a solution is found, iFunbox will not be able to open the data directory of any application unless the device is jailbroken.

That’s all to say, if you are using file explorer on your desktop, you may have problems transferring files back and forth until they figure it out. However, this only causes problems with files inside applications, so any other transmissions (ringtones, images, etc.) will continue to work.
