Disable Ad Notifications on the Wii U GamePad by Setting

The Wii U has some great games and video streaming capabilities , but it also has the annoying ability to display ads for games when the system isn’t even in use. This can be fixed with a few quick settings changes.

It’s hard to hate Nintendo’s colorful cast of characters, but that doesn’t mean you want them to try and sell you games in your living room all the time. Most people don’t know they can be turned off, but Chris Hoffman of How-To Geek knows a couple of basic settings that you can toggle to avoid showing ads:

  • Go to System Preferences (wrench)> Power Settings> Quick Launch Menu> and set Wii U GamePad Alerts to No.

If you don’t want to completely get rid of SpotPass advertising alerts, you can change some other settings as well. You can even set a specific time when the pop-up notifications can appear. For other options, see the link below.
