Anthony Bourdin on Traveling in Search of Great Food: Real Advice

You probably know to ask locals for food recommendations when you travel, but be sure to ask the right locals.

Chef, writer and TV personality Anthony Bourdain knows a thing or two about finding good food when traveling overseas. He invites you to do your best to get the best possible food experience and get advice from the right people:

“This concierge takes you to a location they know tourists will love. Don’t eat like a tourist. This is not the knowledge you need. “

Tap your network to see if you know someone who lives there, or someone who knows someone who lives or has lived there. Ask everyone before leaving and you can get a list of fantastic places that tourists will never find. If you can’t find anyone on your network to help you, Bourdin suggests posting a fake positive food review on a travel site.

“Then wait while all the angry culinary nerds tell you how wrong you are and all the other places you should go.”

You will get a great list in no time. Of course, you can also just ask the people on these sites for help, but it’s not that much fun. If you’re hungry like the locals, do your homework first.
