How to Share a Timestamped Podcast Episode so Your Friend Actually Listens to It

Introducing your new podcast to your friends will be much easier if you can directly link them to the part of the episode that you think they will enjoy. There are several podcasting apps that allow users to send timestamped links that will start from a specific part of an episode, including Spotify, which recently added this feature to its podcast player . However, the sharing options work differently in each app and offer different degrees of control over where the sequence starts when you open a link.

Below is a list of popular podcasting apps that allow users to share timestamped episodes, along with instructions on how to create and submit links.

Spotify

  1. Find the place in the episode you want to share and click the Share button from the Now Playing menu in the iOS or Android app.
  2. Toggle Share With to share the episode starting at the selected timestamp.
  3. Copy the link or select one of the apps from the list.

Pocket casts

  1. Click the Share button on the main player menu or on the page for a specific podcast episode.
  2. Select “current position”
  3. In the list of apps, tap the one you want to share with.
  4. You can add or edit the timecode at the end of the link to change the starting position of the playback. For example, if you want the podcast to start in 15 minutes, put “# t = 15m” at the end of the link.

Google Podcasts

  1. Open the episode page on Google Podcasts.
  2. Click the Share button, then select Share From.
  3. Select the app or sharing method you want to use.

Overcast weather

  1. Tap the Share icon in the upper right corner of the Now Playing screen.
  2. You can select Share a link from current time to share a link from the current timestamp, “Share a link from the beginning of a chapter” (if the episode has chapter links), or “Share a clip” to create a 30-second clip. starting from this point. which you are currently listening to.

Castbox

  1. Click the Share button on the playback controls on the Now Playing screen.
  2. Select Share episode with position to send a link to the episode starting at your current timestamp.

RadioPublic

  1. Go to the podcast episode page.

  4. Fill in your contact information and click Submit or select one of the social networking apps at the bottom of the menu.

Youtube

  1. If the podcast series is uploading episodes to YouTube, click Share.
  2. Select the Start At checkbox to add a timecode to the link. Enter a new time code to change the start position.
  3. Copy and paste the link or select one of the apps to share with your friends.
