Transform Your Bricklayer’s Pitcher Into a Weatherproof Matchbox

A wet matchbox with wet matches litters any campfire. Make this waterproof matchbox from a stone pitcher and lightweight matches wherever you are, whenever you want, no matter the weather.

Use a small 4 oz. mason and glue 80-grit sandpaper to the inside of the lid (the photo above shows the outside, but will last longer on the inside). Then fill the jar with matches that can be hammered anywhere and you have a weather-resistant match jar with a lid that you can use to light them.

This setting is more decorative and is recommended for matches that you prefer to leave outside for lighting candles, fireplaces, and charcoal grills. The glass is too heavy to take with you on a hike, and there is a danger that it will break. Bring a waterproof camping match case if you are going to travel with it.
