Automatic Switching on and Off of the Fan Depending on the Air Temperature
From the files for the lazy but totally awesome: Here are two solutions to get the fan to automatically turn on when the air reaches a certain temperature, so you don’t have to flex your muscles.
Instructables user simsalapim shows us how to make a sensor ourselves using a LightBlue Bean , some basic electronics and a fan of your choice. You will need a drill and a soldering iron, but both tasks are very simple in terms of drilling and soldering, and you end up with a very polished finished product.
After discovering this, I looked to see if there were any out-of-the-box solutions and they are! For about $ 16, you can buy a basic temperature controller like these from Cool Components (they have 80-degree and 88-degree). It’s simpler and cheaper than the Do It Yourself option, but obviously the Do It Yourself option offers you much more control over the temperature, as well as additional buttons that you can press to normally turn it on and off. So, how much fine tuning you need is up to you. Check out the links below for more information on each one.
