Make Splashproof Thai Sticky Rice With a Bowl

Thai glutinous rice is a wonderful thing, but it’s hard to make it without bothering with a wok. A bamboo cooking basket will work if you have one, but using regular cooking tools will often result in large clumps of rice. Enter splash guard.

The Food Cannon food blog shows us an easy way to make perfect glutinous rice. Note that with glutinous rice, you need to soak the rice in water overnight first. When you’re ready to steam, fill the pot with water about 2-3 inches from the top. Place the splash guard on top and cover it with about a glass of rice. Place a large bowl on top to hold as much steam as possible. Wood is a good choice because it can be easily moved around without burning your hands. Steam for about 40 minutes. Tiny splash-proof holes ensure even steam throughout the rice.
