Microsoft Hyperlapse Creates Time-Lapse Videos From Long Videos

Windows / Windows Phone / Android: Microsoft Hyperlapse gives you the ability to shoot tons of videos and then combine, condense and edit it all into short slow motion selection on your PC, Windows Phone or Android device for free. …

Microsoft’s Hyperlapse is free while it’s in public preview. On desktop computers, it’s aimed at serious video editors and enthusiasts looking for an easy-to-use tool to edit long frames of video into short, action-packed slow-motion movies or segments for longer movies. On the mobile side, the Hyperlapse app makes it easy to do the same, with a focus on quick and easy editing and sharing right from your phone.

Windows users can download Microsoft Hyperlapse Pro and run it on their PCs right now (it supports Windows 7, 8 and 8.1. Windows Phone users can download it from their app store, but Android users will need to join Hyperlapse Mobile for the Android Preview Community at Google+ before they can download the app from Google Play (link below).

If this technology sounds familiar to you, it should be. Instagram introduced its Hyperlapse feature last year . While this remains iOS only (although there are alternatives ), Microsoft is taking a more cross-platform approach. Likewise, while Instagram’s approach only works for Instagram videos, Microsoft should work anywhere as the end product is a video that you can post or share anywhere. It’s worth noting that Microsoft actually coined the term “Hyperlapse” years ago, and there was some buzz when Instagram used that name for its product. More options are good anyway, and if you couldn’t get into Hyperlapses for Instagram, now you have another alternative.
