There’s a lot going on in the world, so you can be forgiven for not giving this year’s NFL season the attention it deserves, but football is much more interesting to watch in some context. Before you come to the Super Bowl party, read this sketch of the teams, players, and drama that will define the big game of 2022.
Where and when is Super Bowl 56?
Super Bowl LVI (or 56 if you’re not Roman) will take place on Sunday, February 13 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. The game kicks off at 6:30 pm ET and will air on NBC. You can also stream it on Peacock. NBC is available as a channel on DirecTV, YouTube TV, Hulu Live TV, FuboTV and Sling TV. Pre-game programming will begin at 10:00 AM ET.
Who plays in Super Bowl 56?
This year, the Cincinnati Bengals (in orange, black and white uniforms) will take on the Los Angeles Rams (in blue, gold and white uniforms).

Off the field, “Joe Brrr” is known for hisexcesses in clothing, leading to comparisons with Joe “Joe Cool” Namath. He is, as the children say, capricious.
Head coach : Zach Taylor has been the head coach of the Bengals since 2019. After a disastrous first season with the franchise, Taylor effectively cleaned up the roster and built a winning team from scratch. At 38, Taylor is the second youngest coach in the NFL. (The youngest Rams coach, Sean McVeigh.)
Other Notable Players : Bengals wide receivers Jamarr Chase, Ty Higgins and Tyler Boyd are great in their own right, but together? This is ridiculous. As for “weakness”, Bengal’s offensive line failed to protect their quarterback, allowing 51 sacks in a season.
Los Angeles Rams
The Los Angeles Rams are playing in the Super Bowl for the fifth time – they won it in 2000 and lost to the Tom Brady Patriots in the 2018-2019 season. The Rams earned the NFC Championship by defeating double foes in the postseason. First Tom Brady and the Buccaneers, then the San Francisco 49ers. They also play at their home stadium.
Quarterback : 33-year-old Matthew Stafford, despite being an NFL veteran, plays in his first season with the Los Angeles Rams and competes in his first Super Bowl. During his 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions, Stafford was considered a great quarterback bogged down in a low-quality team. Stafford ranks 11th among NFL quarterbacks in all-time completions, 12th in passing yards, and fourth in touchdown passes. Plagued by back problems, this could be Stafford’s last chance in the Super Bowl ring.
Coach : At only 36 years old, Sean McVeigh is the youngest head coach in the NFL. He is a child prodigy whose methods are so successful that other squads poach his talent, including the Bengals. Before taking over as leader of the Cincinnati, Zach Taylor was the Rams’ quarterback coach. So you can think of the game as a classic teacher versus student scenario.
Other Notable Players : Linebacker Aaron Donald was named the NFL’s second-best player in 2021. The focus may be on the duel between the quarterbacks, but Aaron Donald’s weak offensive line against the Bengals is a matchup worth watching. . It could decide Super Bowl 56.

The Vegas bookies say the Rams have a chance of winning the game by at least 4.5 points. This is a small margin, so they expect a relatively close game.
