Use Five Minute Services to Strengthen Your Relationship
It doesn’t take long to provide you with a service that will help you build better professional and personal relationships . Sometimes even something that only takes a few minutes can make a big difference to someone.
For example, if someone informs you of an issue they are having with formatting their email, you can send them an article or questions and answers that address their issue. I spent a few minutes of my day looking for restaurant recommendations for friends or family visiting the city I live in. You show that you listened to their problem and try to help them without taking too much of your time.
As Aja Frost points out, you can also be proactive about your five-minute services:
When the web team introduces a new site, you can share your thoughts with them in five minutes. When you notice that two colleagues have common interests (because you are paying attention!), You can offer to introduce them. When someone you know announces a new side project, you can promote it on social media.
This does not mean that you have to spend all day doing a service to everyone else – but if you can devote a little time, you can create a lot of goodwill.
