GOG Galaxy Is a DRM-Free Alternative to Steam in Open Beta Testing

It’s easy to forget that there are other PC gaming services besides Steam . GOG (formerly Good Old Games) has established itself as selling old software, but is now stepping into the big leagues by offering a free DRM-free alternative to Steam software called GOG Galaxy.

The new service is currently in open beta, available for Windows and Mac. GOG Galaxy lets you manage and update your game library just like you do on Steam. It also includes a community level so you can track achievements, play, chat with friends, and more.

However, there are a few key points that set it apart from Steam. First, you can play your games offline without any strings attached. While it’s technically possible on Steam, you’ll need to go offline to do this, which can be problematic if you lose your internet connection. You can also download backups of your games to your computer to install them even if you lose access to your GOG account.

To subscribe to the beta, click on the source link below. You will need to create or sign in to your GOG account and then click the Join the GOG Galaxy Beta button.
