Prioritize Your Happiness Budget

The discretionary items in our budget — the ones we have the most control over — are often the hardest to budget. One way to improve your budget performance ? Prioritize spending based on how much happiness it brings you.

“Rate the 10 most important things in the order of happiness,” writes Lule Demmissi, managing director of TD Ameritrade on the Huffington Post. Then cut (or shrink) the bottom three pieces.

It’s a simple approach and you probably still have to make a trade-off, but one that can make you stick to your budget better.
