Chrome for Android Can Instantly Search for Any Text You Highlight on Google
Want to spot a big word without opening a new tab? Want more news on what you are currently reading on your phone? Chrome for Android now lets you search Google by simply highlighting text without wasting space.
Desktop browsers like Chrome and Firefox have had this feature for a while now: just select the text, right-click it and choose Search Google. Chrome on Android now has the same functionality, but with a slightly nicer feel.
Just highlight a word or term and you will see a small popup at the bottom of the screen. You can pull it up to see a full Google search for that term, including responses from the Google Knowledge Graph , which is perfect for identifying words or quickly getting information on a complex topic. It all happens in a drawer, so you don’t need to open another tab.
Of course, if you think this little popup is going to be more annoying than helpful, you can also disable this feature in your Chrome settings (thanks Google).
