Set Aside 20 Minutes for Personal Projects After Work to Avoid Disruption
After a long day at work, you may feel too tired to pursue passionate projects, but otherwise they will not get done. We’ve suggested several ways to stay productive after a working day , but the 20-minute rule combines two of them: get started right away and commit yourself to working on a project for a certain (but reasonable) amount of time.
When you walk through the door, immediately immerse yourself in your personal project for at least 20 minutes. By not allowing yourself to be distracted by Netflix or video games, you’re more likely to actually work on your passionate projects, let alone conserve energy for the evening. Even if you only have the energy to work on something for the first 20 minutes, it’s better than doing nothing at all .
