Sowing Chili Peppers Quickly and Safely With a Small Spoon

Not only can sowing chili peppers be difficult, but it can also burn your skin if you’re not careful. This scooping method makes seed removal simple and safe.

If the seeds and membranes of hot peppers come into contact with fingers, the burn may spread to most of the skin; or worse, in the eyes. To avoid this, Sara Jampel of Food52 recommends seeding the peppers with a very small sugar spoon or cocktail spoon. Cut off the top of the pepper, insert the spoon as deep as possible, and twist to melt everything inside. Then just scoop it out gently.
