Replace “Fitspiration” With Positive Messages to Stay Focused

You know that fitspiration is bad for your motivation , but it can be attractive and sometimes you find yourself staring at a poster in the middle of a workout thinking, “Maybe I need to go hard or go home.” Try using some of these substitution statements to get your mind back on track.

James Fell in Ask the Men refutes some of the overused sayings, but his replacements bring the focus back to what should be.

Instead of:No pain – no benefit

Try: “Any coach can tire you, but not every coach can make you better.” This puts the emphasis back on not doing the right workout the hardest part.

Instead of: “Those who indulge, stick out”

Try: “Weakness is a rare treat that supports both sanity and weight loss.” Less flashy, but more effective .

Instead of: “The sun is gone, they are shooting”

Try it: minor modification: “The sun is gone, put on a broad spectrum sunscreen , weapon off.” Of course, you can still show off your hard work! Just be smart while doing this.
