Know When It’s Too Hot to Walk Your Dog With the Five Second Rule
As it gets hot, it’s time to think twice before taking your dog out for a walk. The hot sidewalk can make them uncomfortable (or worse, burn them). Use the five second rule to walk your dog safely.
This advice came from training dogs in Moon Valley and is pretty simple. Whenever you take your dog outside, place it with the back of your hand on the sidewalk. If you can’t hold out there for five seconds, it’s too hot to walk the dog.
The back of the hand is a rather sensitive area, so the tip makes sense, and even if your dog’s paws are less sensitive, this tip will help you to be careful. See for yourself using the link below.
