Make Tomato Cages for Your Garden Using Old Political Sign Supports
You can find political signs all over the place, and in most cases they remain standing long after an election is over. If you want to get some benefit from them, wire supports can be great cages to support your plants.
On Instructables, user Two Paddles Design shares his design for a simple tomato cage. Take four of the sign wire supports, stick them into the soil where you want to plant the tomatoes, and use a small wire to hold them together. Tomatoes are one of the easiest vegetables to grow and are worth a try, even if you’re not an experienced gardener. You can find these signs in courtyards, along the road, and even on empty lots, but it is very important that you do not remove them before or during elections (or from people’s backyards without asking). However, most places have time limits for campaigns to pick up their posters after the elections, and many are left behind, so there is no point in letting them go to waste.
