Best and Worst Countries for Healthcare
How good is the medical care where you travel? In some countries, you can count on good service anywhere; other times, you’re fine if you’re sticking to the big city but don’t really want an emergency in the suburbs.
In this International SOS Health Risk Map, countries assess the health of their health systems. This is a company that provides emergency medical care to corporations, so they focus on whether they choose to evacuate you or take you to a local hospital. However, the map can be useful as a travel planning tool: how risky is it to get seriously ill or injured while on vacation?
Some countries do not fall into the simple category: there can be huge differences in care between urban and rural areas, or between public and private hospital systems. These countries are shown in brown on the map, and some of them are described in more detail in this NPR interview . Follow the link below for the complete map.
