Hack Amazon Dash Button to Track Any Type of Data
Amazon Dash allows you to order specific products with the click of a small button , but there are other ways to use these simple devices. You can grab buttons and use them to track any data you like.
On the Medium blog, Ted Benson explains how he intercepted the Amazon Dash button signal and turned it into an easy way to track his newborn baby’s poop. Using a simple Python program, Benson was able to locate the button on his Wi-Fi network, determine its MAC address, and configure it to write data to a spreadsheet. Buttons are just a Wi-Fi radio and a battery that you can steal and use to collect any kind of data. The parts probably don’t cost a lot, but at $ 4.99 apiece, you don’t have to worry about assembly. You can use the buttons to track the development of a new habit, remind yourself of the last time you did something around the house, or count the number of times you completed a task. The sky is the limit. You can find the complete guide at the link below. What would you do with your hacked Dash button?
