Kaboom Gives You Self-Destruct Messages That You Can Share Anywhere
Android / iOS: Self-destructing messages is mostly nonsense. There is no guarantee that the message actually disappeared, and most apps require all your friends to register just to share messages. Kaboom solves at least the last problem by letting you share these synced messages anywhere, with anyone.
Once installed, you can create your own text or photo message and tell the application when you want the message to “expire” or be destroyed on its own. You can say that the message will disappear in just a few minutes (hours will start after the message is opened by the recipient) or in months or years; it’s entirely up to you. Then, instead of only sharing the post with other Kaboom users, you can share your post using any social network or messaging service you want. Twitter and Facebook are working, or you can use WhatsApp or Hangouts. You can even use an old email or SMS, or copy the direct link to the clipboard for manual sending, however you want.
An important feature is that you get the entire self-destruct message without forcing all your friends to use the same service as you in order to take advantage of it. Also, Kaboom doesn’t have to be super popular just to be useful.
Kaboom is owned by the same people as Freemium VPN developer Hotspot Shield , which I am not mentioning as a tribute to its security, but simply to explain that it is a mature product. As with any self-destructing messaging service, you have no guarantee that your message actually disappeared or that the person you sent it to didn’t download, save, take a screenshot, or whatever. Kaboom does not talk about encryption or security, and does not promise that the message is not stored somewhere on their servers. Keep this in mind and use these apps for fun, not really secure communication.
