Request a Carrycot to Keep Your Child Comfortable and Quiet on Long Flights

Flying with an infant can cause headaches . Here’s one way to make your flight even smoother: ask your airline for a bassinet (or bassinet) if you have a long flight. You will get some legroom and the baby will be comfortable.

The carrycot also gives you a safe place to place your baby so that it doesn’t get stuck in your lap throughout the flight. Airplane cradles are usually attached to the wall in front of bulkhead seats, and there are usually only one or two per airline, so don’t wait until check-in to ask for one. Travel blog Style Hi Club talks about what you need to do to get it:

  1. Book your flight as early as possible. Sometimes when you buy a ticket, you can request a bassinet (or bassinet) online, but you may be able to do so by phone to make sure you have it reserved.
  2. Know where carrycots fit on your plane. Visit your airline’s website to see your aircraft layout. Even if the cradle-friendly seats are not labeled, you can guess where they are based on which ones face the bulkheads.
  3. Confirm your cradle reservation. Before traveling, call your airline several times to make sure they have a record of your bassinet reservation. Since there can only be one per plane, you must make sure you have one.

Not all US airlines offer bassinets, but this infographic will help you at a glance . If you are flying overseas, visit the airline’s website or call customer service. If you jam the bassinet, you have a little more legroom and a little privacy, your child will have a place to sleep (and hopefully quiet), and everyone will fly a little happier.
