The journey has four phases: San Francisco to Salt Lake City, Salt Lake City to Denver, Denver to Chicago, and Chicago to New York. If you just want to travel from San Francisco to New York, you can buy the two required tickets for about $ 213. However, for these multiple segments, it’s best to get a $ 459 train pass that allows you to travel up to 8 segments.
Of course, you don’t have to go through these segments, and with the pass, you can create your own longer route (perhaps with this road trip map in mind).
