Prepare Your Grill for Winter to Protect It From Insects and Moisture
When the temperature drops and you’re no longer grilling outdoors, it’s time to grill under a shelter for a few cold months. Here’s how to make sure it’s refueled and ready to fire in the spring.
First, clean the grill thoroughly, both inside and outside. Remove the grates, heating element and gas pipes. Then, scrub each item one at a time to remove any food that might attract insects and rodents.
Lubricate burners and metal parts with cooking oil to repel moisture and prevent rust, and wrap the end of the gas line in a plastic bag to prevent spiders and bugs from nesting in gas pipes.
