Don’t Waste More Than a Few Seconds on Minor Decisions
We’re all obsessed with finding the best – the best TV, the best laptop, the best … toothpaste. However, at some point, you are simply wasting your time. Ramit Sethi explains well: don’t waste more than 2 seconds on decisions that don’t really matter.
The aforementioned exchange that he covers on his blog pretty much says it all. For us control fanatics, it is difficult to simply make a decision – we deliberate, investigate, reflect. We “spend as much time arguing about what salt [we] buy as about the type of car [we] buy.”
We’ve talked about this before – which is why President Obama only has two colors of suits , or why we recommend automating as much as possible . But for some of us, it should become a habit. The next time you find yourself pondering, ask: does it really matter? Or should it be a two second decision?
