Build a 3D Printer for Less Than $ 300 (Plus Lots of Effort)
Let’s face it: this project is not easy. However, if you’re ready to run into some hardships this weekend (or more), these plans to build your own 3D printer for under $ 300 are going to be pretty killer.
Instructables user AlmusYang has compiled a comprehensive guide to building a home 3D printer. Of course, this is not an easy process. You will have to order laser cut parts and other mechanical parts that you may not be able to find at your local Home Depot store. However, since even low-quality 3D printers are still quite expensive, it might be worth giving it a try.
Just like our own tutorial on how to create an awesome robot arm , this is not something you do during the day. It is best viewed as a learning experience and a long term project. However, if you can get through it, you have a pretty killer tool.
