Sharpening Small Blades and Tools With an Emery Board
If you need to sharpen a small blade or a metal tool, a few blows to the emery will do as a last resort.
If you need to sharpen a small blade like an X-acto knife or a tool like tweezers, follow Jilly’s One Good Thing advice and pull the object several times in the same direction across the sanding board. Obviously, you’ll get better results with a sharpening stone (or a new X-acto blade), but if you just don’t have them on hand, it works really well. Emery boards are also great for shaping pencils.
