These Are the Best Neighborhoods in the USA for Raising a Family.

Choosing the best neighborhood for your family can be a very difficult decision, especially without the right research . This list ranks suburbs across the country based on safety, education, and cost of living.

These rankings, compiled by Brittany Fowler, Talia Avakian and Andy Kirsch of Business Insider, are based on data on average commuting time, median household income, housing affordability, poverty and crime rates, and Great Schools ‘ public school rankings. In addition, each suburb had to be at a reasonable distance from a major metropolis. Here are the top five:

  1. New Albany, Ohio : Population 8,135, many public parks, low poverty, median household income $ 185,076, and Great Schools score of 10/10.
  2. Mountain Brook, Alabama : Population 20,416, convenience stores, median household income of $ 131,281, well-designed residential areas, and Great Schools score 10 out of 10.
  3. Rookie, Missouri : Population 8,519, typical small-town atmosphere, low poverty rate of 1.6%, median household income $ 176,369, and a Great Schools score of 7 out of 10.
  4. University Park, Texas : Population of 23,460, near downtown Dallas, 83.7% of residents have at least a bachelor’s degree, the median household income is $ 173,520, and the Great Schools score is 9 out of 10.
  5. Atherton, California : Population of 6,993, located between San Francisco and San Jose, has the highest median income of $ 239,886, and a Great Schools score of 8/10.
